The City of Tampere selected Aare Invest Oy as the buyer of the Frenckell property

07.04.2023

Tampere City Council decided on the sale of the Frenckell property on Monday 17 May. With the decision, Aare Invest Oy will purchase the property on Tampere’s plot number 1 for €14.3 million. Besides Aare Invest, the bidders were the special investment fund eQ Liikekiinteistöt and Finesco Capital Oy/Skanska Talonrakennus Oy.

“Our property concept will give the Frenckell property the value it deserves and bring it into active use by residents and tourists. Our plans for the building include a hotel, restaurants, office space, a museum and an urban spa,” says Marko Kuusisto, founder and CEO of Aare Invest Oy.

The original Frenckell factory building was built in 1785, and the new factory building in 1907. The red-brick building, currently used mainly as municipal offices, has a floor area of approximately 14,000 m², and the plot covers 8,213 m². The city will remain a tenant in the building until 31 July 2025.

“Frenckell’s location right at the heart of the city centre is excellent. At its best, the building’s new use and activities will give both Tampere residents and visitors reasons to come to the city centre and spend time there,” says Virpi Ekholm, Director of Real Estate at the City of Tampere.
