Just under three years ago, the Pirkanmaa-based real estate investment company Aare Invest acquired Veska shopping centre in Pirkkala. The shopping centre has been developed with determination since then. Thanks to renovations and more efficient operations, its occupancy rate has risen from 57 per cent to 98.6 per cent.
“The development work has paid off, and it’s great to see that companies are interested in Veska,” says a delighted Marko Kuusisto, CEO of Aare Invest, which owns the shopping centre. The entire first floor is fully let, and only a few retail units remain available on the second floor.
Isku is the latest tenant
Over the past six months, Aare has signed four new leases and three larger lease extensions at Veska shopping centre. The most recent agreement was signed with Isku, Finland’s most respected furniture brand.
“We were looking for good retail premises because our premises in Kaleva are being demolished. We chose Veska for its good location, the development of the area and the shopping centre’s rising visitor numbers,” says Mikko Kuuppo, Chief Operating Officer at Isku. Isku will move into the unit next to Verkkokauppa.com later this year.
A hotel next to the shopping centre
The Partola area is developing rapidly. Last week, Pirkkala Municipal Council approved an amendment to the Partola local zoning plan that allows a hotel to be built next to the shopping centre.
“Construction of the hotel will begin next year at the earliest, and we will announce the hotel operator later,” Kuusisto sums up.
